Mr. K. F. Saunders
District Superintendent, Air Regulations,
Edmonton, Alberta

Dear Sir,

This is to report damage to my personal aircraft CF-IYQ, a Mooney M-18C.

While landing at the Edmonton Airport at 20:10, May 22nd, 1957, the right landing leg was fractured, the nose wheel strut displaced slightly, and the propeller damaged. Total repairs will be approximately $400.00.

The Pilot, myself, in as much as the craft is a single-seater, was engaged in doing takeoff and landing and practicing circuit procedure. The accident occurred at the far north end of Runway 21, and was due solely to a faulty landing on the part of the writer. By this, I mean a premature flare-out and resulting stall. There was no personal injury other than my own pride.

Since then the structural aspect of the craft has been ascertained as sound and no damage was done to the aero engine. Repairs are in the hands of United Aviation.

In conjunction with Information Circular 0/10/52, the writer would like to express an opinion on the screw-push throttle arrangement found on this type of aircraft. It is my opinion I could have recovered airspeed prior to setting in had I not screwed the throttle fully off, and, when pushed to recover, it would not budge. Steps will be taken on the writer's part to replace this if possible.

Should any further information be required, the writer would be pleased to comply with your wishes.

Yours truly,

Sgd. William A. Porter.
