Rubber Boots for the Mooney Mite

Keith Mackey, N4159, passed along this tip from M-18 guru, Fred Schmidt:

The Mite uses four rubber boots. Two where the rudder pedals pass thru the floor and two different style boots on the main gear retraction rods as they pass from the nose wheel well into the cockpit.

Both style boots are available from: http://www.steelerubber.com/

The company is: Steele Rubber Products, Denver, N.C. 800-544-8665

The rudder pedal boots are from a 1936 Chevrolet and were used as a "Bellows, starter pedal shaft-to-floorboard".

The retraction rod boots are from a 1948 GMC truck and were used as a "Bellows, starter pedal shaft-to-floorboard".

Fred advises that the 3/8" top hole in the 60-0210-21 boot must be opened up to 3/4" and recommends using a radio chassis hole punch to do the job.

Below are drawings of both boots.
