"Concrete is tucked into the Skagit River Valley east of Burlington and Sedro Woolley in northwest Washington. Go straight up Interstate 5, then head 20 miles east on Route 20. It's one of the most beautiful places I've flown around.

"The top photo shows Baker Lake, below 10,000-foot Mt. Baker. The bottom one is of the airport and surroundings.

"We have a real nice place for fly-ins, sleepovers, food, showers and transportation. There's hangar space for all Mites that come. It's scheduled for August 15th, 16th & 17th, but you can come and leave whenever you want. I'm inviting the Culver Cadets guys as well.

"Maybe it's a little removed for you California guys, but I believe that Concrete has a lot to offer. The town has built a beautiful new meeting/club facility at the field with a kitchen, showers, bathrooms and area for relaxing or meeting. My and Harold Hanson's hangars would be available for sleep-overs. There is a motel and two decent restaurants only a mile away. Ground transportation is not a problem.

"The area offers a great place for unrestricted flying and photo sessions. From Concrete, it's a couple of hours by auto into the Cascades. The possibilities are endless. Of course there's hangar site seeing and just a comfortable laid back atmosphere."
